Irasshaimase!

The first word you’ll hear as you board this authentic and elegant restaurant on the water. In Japanese, “irasshaimase” means welcome or come in!

Beyond the chefs originating from Japan, the owner often imports different varieties of fish straight from Japan, bringing new fish to try in the States. The fish that originates from Puget Sound, however, is always caught on the day of making it some of the freshest fish in town.

Sporting beautiful views of Lake Bellevue and an interior reminiscent of a traditional sushi restaurant, I Love Sushi is the perfect place to try new things and have an authentic sushi experience.

FOB Poke and Sushi Bar

Located just across from Bell Square, this sushi bar is in the perfect spot for a bite to eat after a long day of shopping. You can either build yourself a poke bowl or fill a box of sushi with rolls and nigiri of your choice.

Bowls start at $14.99, and boxes are priced by the pound at $14.99 per pound, making it a budget-friendly option.

Our personal favorite at this location is the Spicy Salmon Gunkan.

Tucked away in the Eastgate neighborhood, Kuro Sushi is a hidden gem.

Besides the ultra-fresh fish on these rolls, the first thing you might notice about Kuro Sushi is its use of purple Jasmine rice, a blend of black and white rice that brings a unique flavor.

The menu ranges from modern sushi rolls to higher-end experiences such as omakase. In Japanese meaning, “I’ll leave it up to you,” the chef then curates a meal specifically for your table with the fish received that day.

A roll we’d recommend at Kuro is the Cherry Blossom, rolled with tuna, avocado, and cucumber and topped with more tuna, tobiko, and ponzu sauce.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar

Are you ready to be served by robots? Then Kura Revolving Sushi in Wilburton Village is for you!

Arguably the most well-known revolving sushi in Japan, the chain expanded to Washington in 2021. The only human interaction you have is being seated by the host, and then you can either pick up plates off of the revolving belt or order specialties off of the iPad. Drinks are brought via smiling robots.

Each plate ranges from $3-$5. As you eat, you dispose of the plates through a little slot attached to the table. After 15 plates, you’ll receive a Bikkura Pon or a little prize. These prizes are often related to whatever brand Kura is collaborating with that week. From your favorite anime to Tetris or Peanuts, the prizes revolve just like the sushi. As you eat, animations will show up on your table’s iPad to encourage you to keep going.

One of my favorite things to order at Kura is Taiyaki ice cream with red bean paste. The pairing of ice cream and bean paste is perfect after plates and plates of sushi.

An overall review of sushi is: lots of sushi, cheap, casual, and fun!
